The tradition of Christmas tree

The history of Christmas tree has its beginning in Germany. In the 16th century devout Germans brought into their houses the decorated trees. Somebody was built Christmas pyramids and then decked them with candles and plants. Candles was added to a holiday tree by Martin Luther in the 16th century too. Idea for candles arised during walk. Martin Luther one winter evening noticed light of stars twinkling amidst plants.

Holiday tree in American culture

Only a few know that majority of 19th century American citizens found Christmas trees as oddity. One of the first information about holiday tree in that region come from 1830s and tell about settlers from German as a proprietors of Christmas tree. Somebody say that the German settlers had Christmas trees as early as 1747. But, in the 1840s holiday trees were treated as symbols of pagan and they were not accepted by majority of residents of America.

The history of Christmas carols

The definition of “carol” actually means dance or a song of joy and praise. In the past carols were songs of pagans those were played at the celebration of Winter Solstice when members of event danced around circles of stone. Early Christians took over pagan songs and gave Christian songs. In 129 the song “Angel’s Hymn” was popular and played during Christmas celebrations in Rome. Other Christmas hymn was created in 760 by Comas from Jerusalem. After that time more and more composers all over the Europe try to creating holiday carols. But majority of Christmas songs was sung in Latin and that’s why many Christians were not intrested in singing holiday carols.

Holiday tree and Christmas carols are beautiful customs those are worth continued between generations. The knowledge about long-standing history of Holiday tree and holiday carols makes them more unusual.
